What kind of vehicle do you tow? Do you tow with a dolly or with all 4 wheels on the ground?

We flat tow (all 4 wheels on the ground) a 2016 Kia Soul with a manual transmission. It tows easily, is lightweight, gets 33-34 mpg, has plenty of cargo space and comfortably holds four adults for occasional day trips. See the Our Ride page for specs on the Kia.

Aren’t campgrounds and resorts expensive?

Yes they can be. No different than some houses cost more than others. We’ve seen prices up to $150 a night. Yikes! The most we have ever paid for a site was $27 a night and that was during a heat spell when the temps were in the mid 90’s. We had plans to boondock but decided air conditioning wasn’t an option so we headed to a county park. About 2/3 of the time we stay at free sites and the other 1/3 are pay sites with an average nightly stay around $10-$15.

How do you get your mail?

We have a UPS mailbox and have the mail forwarded to us every 2-3 months or so. If we know we will be in Wisconsin where our mailbox is we will wait and pick it up in person.  We do as much business as we can online to eliminate excess physical mail. Our UPS mailbox averages $13 per month.
